Born and raised in the heart of Motown, Jawan M. Jackson is a native of Detroit. Jackson made his professional debut starring in Broadway’s Ain’t Too Proud as Melvin Franklin of The Temptations. With his deep barotone voice, he embodies the late legend sound with what looks like great ease.

His voice makes the ladies swoon and also gets him many unique requests from fans. Jawan is an actor/singer in theater, but also has his eyes set on doing more film and television as well.

Jawan is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University and he began his career as a radio personality for Detroit’s top radio station, Hot 107.5. Upon graduation, he successfully helped instill, develop, and execute a program for high school students who had a passion for pursuing a career in acting and the arts. Film: Sparkle (2012), Love Thy Self (2014). TV: Netflix’s The Get Down (2016), PBS’s Doo Wop Generations (2018). Big thanks to my agents at Carson Kolker, Barry and Oscar, and manager Arthur Massei.

Jawan also spends his time attending and hosting events that help underprivileged youth. On May 14, 2019, he was recently on hand to host the 14th Annual Shubert Foundation / Music Theatre International Broadway Junior Student Finale at Broadway’s Imperial Theatre.

This program allows young students to have the opportunity to play out their dreams on a Broadway stage. Jawan is excited and passionate about helping younger aspiring artists and tries to spend most of his down time giving back so that others have a chance at success.

Jawan is a positive force to be reckoned with saying that he knew as a kid that he would be famous. He was not sure how, but he just believed and did the work needed to get here. He is expected to be in the Ain’t Too Proud musical for at least a year, and audiences are in store for an amazing performance.
