The idea of beauty in society has been a conversation women have been having for decades. In careers such as an actress, model, singer, performer and even in the boardroom. The Substance, director/writer Coralie Fargeat has masterfully discovered a way to tell a story behind this age old discussion.

Demi Moore gives a career-best performance as Elisabeth Sparkle, a former A-lister past her prime and suddenly fired from her fitness TV show by repellent studio head Harvey (Dennis Quaid). She is then drawn to the opportunity presented by a mysterious new drug: The Substance.

All it takes is one injection and she is reborn — temporarily — as the gorgeous, twenty-something Sue (Margaret Qualley). The only rule? Time needs to be split: exactly one week in one body, then one week in the other. No exceptions. A perfect balance. What could go wrong?

Deliriously entertaining and ruthlessly satirical, director/writer Coralie Fargeat’s Cannes sensation turns toxic beauty culture inside out with a be-careful-what-you-wish-for fable for the ages.

Demi’s performance has garnered her, the first Golden Globe award of her career and she has just been nominated for an Academy Award.

For people who have not had the opportunity to see the film, go check it out right away. You will never forget it. Watch the trailer.
