Netflix Hosts Screenings for the Provocative Film “The Deliverance” as it Takes Over New York City
The film, THE DELIVERANCE directed by the Oscar nominated director, Lee Daniels arrived in New York City with a bang in August 2024. Netflix hosted few nights with a dinner, a press screening and a few invite only screenings for exclusive audiences.
On Thursday, August 1, 2024, Bevy Smith hosted a Dinner in honor of the film at Le Bernardin.
In attendance for the events were: Director Lee Daniels, Andra Day, Mo’Nique, Demi Singleton and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor. Other notable guests included: Sunny Hostin (Author, TV Host), Tamron Hall (Talk Show Host), Don Lemon (Media Personality), Kehinde Wiley (Artist), Jerrod Carmichael (Poor Things) , Kara Young (I’m a Virgo), Nick Cannon ( TV Host) , Jordan Cooper (Creator of Ms. Pat Show), and Ari Melber (MSNBC Anchor).
The following evening on Friday, August 2, 2024, Lee Daniels and cast introduced an intimate screening at The Whitby Hotel followed by a Q&A with Lee Daniels moderated by Sunny Hostin (Author, TV Host). Additional notable guests and press include: Angela Yee (Radio Personality), DeRay McKesson (Social Activist), Kelly Augustine (Fashion & Body Positivity Influencer), TJ Holmes (Media Host ), Amy Robach (Media Host), and Nick Cannon (TV Host).
The films stars Andra Day, Glenn Close, Mo’Nique, Anthony B. Jenkins, Miss Lawrence, Demi Singleton, Tasha Smith, with Omar Epps, Caleb McLaughlin, and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor.
The story follows Ebony Jackson, a struggling single mother fighting her personal demons, moves her family into a new home for a fresh start. But when strange occurrences inside the home raise the suspicions of Child Protective Services and threaten to tear the family apart, Ebony soon finds herself locked in a battle for her life and the souls of her children.
Inspired by a true story, THE DELIVERANCE is directed by Academy Award nominee Lee Daniels and stars Andra Day, Glenn Close, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, and Mo’Nique in a genre-defying take on darkness, possession, and finding a higher power.
The film is a must see. Be ready to question how strong your faith is within yourself and what you think you believe about others. The film can be seen in select theaters August 16, 2024 and exclusively on Netflix August 30, 2024.
