Some of the Cast of the Marshall Film on the Urbanworld Film Festival

On Saturday, September 23, 2017, Urbanworld Film Festival premiered the upcoming Marshall film. Marshall is based on a true incident in the life of Thurgood Marshall, long before his appointment to the U.S. Supreme Court.

The NAACP sends Marshall to to defend a black chauffeur against his wealthy employer in a sexual assault and attempted murder trial that became tabloid fodder.

Marshall is partnered with Samuel Friedman, a young Jewish lawyer who has never tried a case.

Marshall and Friedman struggle against a hostile storm of fear and prejudice, driven to discover the truth in the trial which helped set the groundwork for the Civil Rights Movement to come.

The screening followed by a Q&A with Chadwick Boseman, Sterling K. Brown, Josh Gad, Kate Hudson and Academy Award® nominated director Reginald Hudlin. Each cast member answered questions from the audience.

The Marshall film is set to be release October 13, 2017.
