The Tyrel Movie Released on Video on March 12, 2019
A “bracing and disturbing exception to the cultural norm” (The Hollywood Reporter), Tyrel arrives on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD on March 12 from Magnolia Home Entertainment. Written and directed by Sebastian Silva, the racial thriller delivers tense moments of pure emotional dread and vulnerability as Tyler (Jason Mitchell) finds himself the sole black man at an all-boys weekend. As tensions mount and drinks pour, Tyler begins to question whether the trip was a good idea after all.
Surrounded by a group of drunken white men cut off from the outside world in a remote cabin, Tyler struggles with his identity as he struggles to fit in as his deep feelings of unease grow with every drink poured. The precarious situation forces Tyler to reexamine how he fits in both the cabin and society and forces him to question the state of internal race relations in 2019 America. As Tyler’s feeling of dread turn to palpable waves of paranoia, he begins to question those around him, what masculinity means, and what it means to be the only black man in “Whitesville.” With supporting turns by Christopher Abbott, Michael Cera, and Caleb Landry Jones, Tyrel weaves tale of modern-day social interaction hindered by the age-old racism that existed in this country centuries before it.
