Wu Tang’s Docuseries “Of Mics and Men” Premieres at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival
You know, the music and you know the lyrics. Hip Hop has been etched in many of our lives since the 80’s. There was so much great music and talent, who knew that would be more to come. In 1991, a new brand of MC’s called The Wu Tang Clan entered the rap game and music has never been the same.
On 25th anniversary of the group’s debut album, Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), the series looks back on their career with reflective interviews from each of the nine living members and never-before-seen archival footage and performances. Their ingenuity and entrepreneurial spirit brought them together to overcome the poverty, violence, and oppression of their neighborhoods. Music and a shared lyrical genius allowed them to form one of the most recognized musical movements in the world.
The premiere of the documentary was held at the Beacon Theatre the with all of the living members in attendance: RZA, GZA, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Ghostface Killah, Method Man, Raekwon da Chef, Cappadonna and Masta Killa.
During the festival, the group also performed to a very eager and excited audience. It had been a few years since they had all been together, but to fans, it is like nothing ever changed.
The documentary covers original video and in depth interviews with the band. It is definitely giving all a look inside as to how they became the legends they are today.
Be sure to check on the series Of Mics and Men on Showtime on May 10, 2019.
